Matt,
If I remember correctly, I had to set up the account on the wireless sync site with corporate mail, not the POP3, in order to be able to sync with outlook.
Also, another thing for Gmail, there is a setting in your GMAIL preferences where you enable POP3, did you make sure to turn that on? and choose the option to download all the mail?

Usually, in order to check if the sync is working, I go to the verizon wireless sync site and see if the changes have been reflected on the site. if they haven't, then they will definitely not show up on your PDA. the website is the middle repository of your email between your PIM (Outlook, GMAIL, etc...) and your PDA.

Also, as a site note, I really wouldn't recommend turning on the "Push Mail" when you get it, at least not on your PDA, because that eats up your battery in about 2 hours, even without even using your PDA. I usually have mine set for manual sync, and I do it only when I wanna see if i have any new mail.

The only problem I've seen with the syncing, is that sometimes, my desktop agent gets out of sync with the site, and I just have to open it, and reconfigure it to force to reconnect it, and everything is happy again.

I hope these couple of tips will help you a little bit.
Cheers,

I just came across your blog after I had installed and played around with wireless sync. I set it up with the first option, the POP option, and input the settings for my gmail account. I have it set up to push email when I get it, but for some reason its not doing it. I've tested it a couple times by sending an email from another account and nothing happens. I've then tried to do a wireless synce from my 6700 manually and it doesn't find any new mail.

Help, I'm not sure what's going on but it worked once yesterday and since hasn't worked. Is there a better way to set this up? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Esther,

First off, you are right to disable Calendar and Contact sync with ActiveSync, you don't want both enabled, as it would cause you some duplication headaches.

That being said, have you checked your Wireless Sync Settings on your phone to make sure that you have actually enabled Calendar and Contact Syncs? YOu have the option to do an XPress Sync, and a Full Sync, and you can specify which items you would like to sync.

Another thing you can check is the intermediary verizon wireless sync website. the way the whole system works is that the website sits in the middle between your computer, and your PDA, and that server makes sure that any the same information is available to any one of those devices. so, try to add a contact in outlook, and then re-run the configuration on your desktop/laptop wireless sync (or just give it sometime to sync by itself), then check the site, if the entries are added to the site, then you know it's a problem with your phone configuration to retrieve these settings, in this case, check your phone configuration:
Open the Wireless Sync Software on your phone, then go to Menu, and go to Sync Setup ... or SyncXPress Setup, and make sure that your calendar and contacts sync options are setup correctly, then run the sync and check for any errors that might occur. and go from there...

Hope this will help you a little bit.
Let me know if you need any additional help.

My wireless sync works fine for e-mail. However, it is not syncing my calendar and contacts. I now have an audiovox xv6700, but have used wireless sync on my previous xv6600 without a problem. Any ideas? Activesync is set up to sync files only, not calendar and contacts.

That's pretty interesting. I'm actually running sbp Pocket Plus (no wisbar, and/or Resco however), and I haven't seen any issues with it and wireless sync.

Have you tried isolating the problem by removing one or all of the apps, and see if Wireless Sync starts working again?

for example: run sbp, but no resco or wisbar, and run the wireless sync.

Also if all else fails, i know it's kinda extreme, but usually a hard reset fixes everything for me.
Another thing I noticed is that sometimes the order you install some applications can affect how they run...
Let me know if any of those suggestions would work.

On my Verizon XV6700, I am not able to use today plug-in from sbp, the today plug-in from Resco or even the wisbar replacement. When I do the Wireless Sync program stops running on the phone. Are you aware of this? Are there any work arounds as I want to run these WM5 enhancements.
